When conservatives vow not to compromise their principles and use that as an excuse to run a far right politician in a liberal or moderate district, they don't seem to understand that they are asking the voters in that district to compromise all of their own principles, something that isn't likely to happen.
If conservatives could find a way to accommodate moderates in a way that neither was forced to compromise their principles, we could have a majority party again. If they can't, we won't.
