Yesterday afternoon I attended a Kay Rendleman for El Paso County Republican Chairperson meeting.
I first met Kay Rendleman this fall when our HD had a precinct committeeperson organizational meeting in preparation for the election. She ran the meeting. It was clear that she knew what she was doing as well as what she expected of us, and when.
As in previous years, I recruited volunteers from my precinct to help me and others. Unlike previous years, when I turned in those volunteer names, they got called and used productively. She got big points from me for that.
At the meeting, she talked about retaking the three lost districts in southern El Paso County. Regular readers of this blog cannot help but know how disgusted I have been with the whole El Paso County establishment over their disinterest in winning in HD 17.
She talked about getting young people involved in the Republican Party again, and how to do it. She talked about training for candidates and their staffs.
It turns out that she has been a county chairwoman before, in Napa County California. She has the experience, the energy, and the competence to be an outstanding county chairperson. She has my vote.
I also have met with Kay Rendelman and came away impressed. Kay as county chair and Lois Langraf as vchair would be a terrific combination.
Greg Garcia brags about raising more money than any other chair, but he has also spent more than any other chair. One report on the SOS website reported $66,000 in donations and $62,000 going out in salaries. He has did nothing to help the R's on the street or candidates.
As for HD17, the establishment has never supported the district, especially when Mark Cloer was in. Cloer and Garza-Hicks represented their district very well and Cloer had been winning by almost 60% in a 28% R and 32% D district.
The establishment had Kit Roupe move into the district just to run and we all seen what happened. How many different races has Roupe been in and has lost every time. I hope that Garza-Hicks is over her health problems and will run in 2010.
I am tired of the establishment deciding who should run and imitating who they don't like. Look at Coffman, everything was did to make him lose and he won.
