Parts of Polis Amendment Put on Hold

Jarad Polis's great gift to the citizens of Colorado, Amendment 41, suffered a defeat at the hands of Denver District Court Judge Christina Habas.

She issued an injunction against the gift provisions of the amendment that no one, including Polis himself, cares to defend.

According to the Denver Post, she said that the Plaintiffs had  "a high likelihood of succeeding on the merits of their case." The Plaintiffs claimed that the ethics-in-government law invades private lives and violated the First Amendment.

Ummmm.  That famous right to privacy rears its head again.

There is a rumor making the rounds that retired AF General Bentley Rayburn is seriously thinking about a second run for the 5th CD seat in 2008. 

We will have to check, but we thought that particular seat was in Republican hands, already.  It is likely a rumor without foundation.

Perhaps I Have No Sense of Humor

Today, a blog copied of photo of someone carrying a "RINO's for Romney" sign.  Though I thought that it was funny on one level, I believe that the overuse of that term is extremely damaging to the Republican party.  Those who use it are calling people who want to be their allies on most issues an obnoxious name.

They have no sense of humor about it, and mean no humor by it.

I have no personal preference for a Presidential candidate.  All I want is for the nomination to have some value to the man who gets it.  There are limits and boundaries that should not be crossed if the nomination is to have value, and the conservatives who use that term are well beyond that boundary.

Summertime is Guest Time

Trying to do a site like this with daily commentary is a chore, as many of the bloggers we cover have discovered.

This past weekend was a good break from it.  It was an opportunity for the family to get together.  The cooking and the company were great while the blogging was set aside.

This upcoming week will see another set of family relations arrive with different expectations and a different (sightseeing) agenda.  The timing of the sweep might (almost certainly will) be impacted.  Our ability to monitor events and write on them will be impacted as well.
